1. Tell me more about your book, Done! A Guide to… Prioritize, Plan, and Perform to Accomplish Your Goals.

Done! is an easy to read, practical guide to accomplishing your goals. Goal setting is not a one and done activity but should be ongoing. The book provides a three-pronged approach.

  • Prioritize – this is simply what’s most important to you, right now
  • Plan – every goal needs a specific plan or guide
  • Perform – this is the all-important step where action to complete the goal takes place. After reading and applying the tools, tips, and resources presented in the book, I encourage readers by saying… “Yes, You Too Can Say Done!”

2. What inspired you to write your book, Done! A Guide to… Prioritize, Plan, and Perform to Accomplish Your Goals?

The Book Done! was birthed out of many candid and informal conversations with friends, family, and colleagues about my ability to set and achieve goals. Specifically, it was my quiet confidence to navigate through working full-time and completing three separate degree programs that stood out to many. Little did they know that the road traveled was tough, and I often wanted to give up. With faith, family, and friends, I was able to persevere and finish strong.

3. Where do you get your inspiration from when you begin to write for your written work?

My writing inspiration comes primarily through experiences that have resulted in important life lessons. It’s through sharing these lessons that I believe these valuable insights will benefit others, and my faith in God also inspires my writing. I write on topics that reflect my passion for helping others set, define, and pursue their dreams and goals. Many of the tools, tips, and resources that I use in my coaching and workshops are ones that I’ve used and found to be effective in my business and personal life.

4. What is a skill you think all women should learn and why?

I believe that all women should learn negotiation skills.  Many critical decisions will require negotiation skills in order to achieve our ideal outcome. Don’t be afraid to ask. While negotiation may come naturally to some, with others it can also be developed over time and will eventually become second nature. Once you’ve become comfortable with negotiating, also be prepared to walk away, if necessary,  if the negotiations aren’t favorable. Be sure to know your walk-away point in advance.

5. What is your favorite quote, and why?

Sow a thought, reap an action; sow an action; reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a character; sow a character reap a destiny ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

I believe that everything begins with a thought. As a result, how and what we think about will directly impact our actions, habits, character, and more.  So, work to keep your thinking healthy and surround yourself with positive people to support you.

6. You are a business coach as well as an author. Where can others get in contact with you if they want to hire you as a business coach?

I can be reached through my website at www.sweetinspirationsllc.com. Included on the website is a free chapter download from my inaugural book, Done! Prioritize, Plan, and Perform to Accomplish Your Goals, a link to a free mini-course on C.H.A.N.G.E., media interviews, and much more.

7. What is one piece of advice that has impacted you the most?

The piece of advice that has impacted me the most came from my mom to me as a young girl. She said, “You can achieve anything that your heart desires as long as you’re willing to do the work.” I can personally and professionally attest to the truth in the statement. When I’ve endeavored to accomplish goals, although the path to completion wasn’t always linear; but even through the twists and turns, I’ve repeatedly been able to reach the finish line.

8. List 3 essential business tips.

  1. Know your business “value proposition” (the features intended to make a company or product attractive to customers), and be crystal clear on what you offer as solutions to a potential customer’s pain points.
  2. Go the extra mile to help ensure customer satisfaction. It’s not whether we’ll make a mistake but how we’ll handle it if we do.
  3. Know your ideal customer because not everyone will be your customer, and that’s okay.

9. Do you believe that it is sometimes common for some entrepreneurs to feel alone? Why or why not?

I believe that it is sometimes common for some entrepreneurs to feel alone. As an entrepreneur, we’re oftentimes taught to keep thoughts on our business processes under-cover because someone may “use”  or even worse, belittle your ideas. So, not knowing where to share entrepreneurial concerns to solicit feedback, advice, direction, or something more personal, I would suggest a business coach. The feedback and coaching from a business coach may be general in nature, but with creativity and a solid strategy, together you can shape the feedback to fit your business model.

10. Do you have any parting words of advice before this article ends?

It’s important to take time to tap into the inner you-the place where your deepest hopes, dreams, and desires reside.  It’s in this place where you can find your passion for a specific career, business, or even hobby. Once you find that passion, be reminded that it’s never too late to shift in the areas of your life that no longer suit you.  There’s Power In Your Personal Vision!
