1. Tell me more about your new book Unshakeable Power: Through Seasons of the Soul.

This is a healing book of hope and inspiration. It’s for anyone struggling to get back on their feet and find themselves again after a serious illness, abuse, loss of a loved one, or any traumatic life situation. It’s about balancing heart and mind, going within to find strength, peace, joy, and live their greatest purpose and passions in life.

2. What motivates you to speak or write?

Those outlets give me the best opportunities I have to empower many others, which is by using inspirational parts of my story as examples. This is done in order to be relatable to all types of people and their issues in life. It’s my passion and purpose to help them heal and find their inner strength and joy.

3. What is a skill you think all women should learn and why?

I believe women should learn to love and believe in themselves, to know that they are worthy and deserving of a better life, and to know that they can do anything they really want to do and that it’s never too late. They’re stronger than they know.

4. How would you define success?

For me, success is not about how much money you make. It’s about how many lives you can touch and make a positive difference in.

5. As a cancer survivor, what advice can you give others who are experiencing a similar situation?

Get educated on what your diagnosis means, what your options are, and have a good support team to support you through it. Listen to your doctors, but make your own decisions about your course of treatment. Make sure you have thoroughly done the research and will be comfortable with the outcome. Listen to your intuition.

6. For those who want to buy your book, Unshakeable Power: Through Seasons of the Soul, where can we find it?

Unshakeable Power is available online at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Walmart.

7. How can one overcome their fear of trying new things?

Overcoming the fear of trying new things takes time. I believe it starts with more of a mindset than anything. Identify what you really want to do. Set your goal. Make up your mind to do it. Then start taking the steps to make it happen. Every little step you take, as you come closer to your goal, and with each small success, you will get stronger and stronger. And don’t forget to reward yourself in some way that makes you happy along the way. Before you know it, you will be right where you set out to be!

8. What will others learn when they read your book, Unshakeable Power: Through Seasons of the Soul?

They will learn how to let go of their past, deal with negative emotions that will come up, and how to turn negativity into positivity. They will learn that they are stronger and more courageous than they ever knew and that the answers to everything are already inside of them. All they have to do is be honest with themselves, forgive themselves first, then forgive others. Do not hold onto the past. It will drag you down and prevent you from doing what your heart desires. Keep moving forward, never backward. And always believe in yourself no matter what happens. With practice, you will learn you already have all the tools you need to succeed. It’s a matter of choosing the right tool to get the job done.

9. What inspired you to write your book, Unshakeable Power: Through Seasons of the Soul?

My desire and passion are to help people in times of deep distress. I’ve always been that way, but it was through my experiences of being abused, surviving breast cancer four separate times, a double mastectomy, losing my law career and practice, my husband, my home and my self identity, that I found my inner strength and purpose, my gifts to uplift others. A realization I came to was that I was literally saved from the clutches of death, blessed with my life so that I could bless others and give them hope when they thought there was none.

Through the many seemingly impossible things I have had to overcome, I found my true calling and joy from it. It’s hard to see the trees as the forest when you’re going through it all. It’s my hope for everyone going through such things that they know there is a reason for everything that happens. We might not initially see the reasons, or the whys, but everything will eventually be revealed and you will know, like I did. And you will be grateful for all of it. Those things are what show you how really strong you are and that you do have a purpose and deserve to live your greatest dreams by sharing your gifts. It’s amazing really, and I’m grateful for everything.

10. Offer words of encouragement to others who are trying to achieve their dreams.

Things can and do get rough at times on your life’s journey. It’s just life. You simply have to keep believing in yourself. Adjust your mindset, buckle down, breathe, and then keep going deeper inside yourself in order to find and tap into that inner strength and power. Dredge it up, polish it up, keep going and never, ever give up. You will be so glad you kept going!
